ECOFILMSET Underfloor Heating Elements offer simple and fast installation, with no need for self levelling compound.
ECOFILMSET 1000mm Underfloor Heating Elements provide a fast, clean and energy-efficient electric floor heating solution designed specifically for floating floor installations. This ultra-slim carbon film system offers dry installation with no need for screed or self-levelling compound, making it ideal for renovation projects where floor height must be kept to a minimum.
The ECOFILM heating element is available in multiple widths and standard lengths up to 10m. Elements can be trimmed on site where required and are supplied with pre-wired 5m cold tails for easier installation. Two power outputs are available — 130W/m² for living areas and bedrooms, and 160W/m² for higher heat demand rooms such as conservatories.
This radiant heating technology provides gentle, even warmth across the full floor surface. The heating film itself can reach operating temperature in as little as 15 seconds, with noticeable warmth felt through laminate or engineered wood floors within 20–30 minutes. Bringing a room fully up to temperature typically takes 1–2 hours, depending on insulation levels and room heat loss.
ECOFILM heating is primarily designed for use beneath laminate and engineered wood flooring. Carpet and compatible vinyl flooring can also be installed when used with ECOMAX-DUO overlay boards to create a suitable floating floor build-up. For full installation guidance, see our Underfloor Heating Overlay Board Guide.
This system is suitable for dry areas only and must not be installed in bathrooms, wet rooms or shower areas.
For help choosing between heating systems, our Electric Underfloor Heating Systems Collection Guide explains when carbon film heating is the best option compared with heating mats, foil heating or loose wire systems.
To ensure efficient performance and faster warm-up times, ECOFILM should always be installed over a suitable insulation layer such as ECOMAX-LITE insulation boards or thermal underlay. You can estimate heating requirements using our Underfloor Heating Calculator.

For accurate temperature control and improved energy efficiency, ECOFILM heating should be paired with a programmable thermostat. Our Underfloor Heating Thermostat Guide explains compatible options and control strategies.

FAQs
How quickly does ECOFILM underfloor heating warm up?
The heating film can reach operating temperature in around 15 seconds, with warmth typically felt through laminate or engineered wood floors within 20–30 minutes. Full room temperature is normally reached within 1–2 hours depending on insulation levels and heat loss.
What flooring can ECOFILM be used with?
ECOFILM is designed primarily for laminate and engineered wood floating floors. Carpet and compatible vinyl flooring can be used when installed with ECOMAX-DUO overlay boards.
Do I need insulation under ECOFILM heating?
Yes. Installing insulation such as ECOMAX-LITE boards helps direct heat upward into the room, improves warm-up speed and reduces running costs.
What thermostat should I use with ECOFILM?
Programmable or smart thermostats such as the Flexel Touch WiFi or Heatmiser Slimline-E are recommended to improve comfort and energy efficiency.
